What drives mold removal cost
The area matters, but where the mold sits matters more. A closet wall is quick to seal and clean. A cellar with block walls, joists and stored items takes more setup, and a whole floor needs containment in several rooms.
Material changes the method. Mold on drywall and insulation is removed and replaced. Mold on wood framing and block is cleaned with HEPA vacuums and sanding or scrubbing, which takes more labor per foot. Containment adds time and equipment, and it protects the clean parts of the house.
If the source of water is not fixed, the job is not complete. Mold returns where moisture stays, so drying and repair are part of the plan. Rebuilding, painting and flooring are separate.
Questions about this tool
Is this a quote?
No. It is a typical estimate based on the New York City area. A crew needs to see the area to quote it.
Why does containment cost more?
It means plastic sheeting, negative air machines and more setup time, so spores stay in the work area.
Do I need a test first?
Not always. If you can see or smell mold, treatment is the same. Testing can help with a sale or a claim.
Does insurance pay for mold?
Often only if it follows a covered water loss, and sometimes with a cap. Read your policy.
