Water Damage Restoration Pricing

Water damage jobs vary a lot. These are typical estimate ranges for the New York City area, so you can see what to expect. They are not guaranteed prices.

Typical cost ranges by service

All figures are typical estimates for the New York City area and are not guaranteed prices. Plumbing repairs, rebuilding and replacing flooring or drywall are separate.

How we get from a range to a real number

The ranges above are a starting point. A real quote comes from the details: where the water came from, how long it sat, how many rooms it touched and what the floors and walls are made of. A call usually gives us enough to give you a firm idea, and a look on site with a moisture meter settles it.

In East Elmhurst, the details that move a number most are the cellar, the type of water and the building. A cellar with block walls dries slower than a first-floor room, contaminated water costs more than clean water, and a shared wall in a two-family means more than one space to scope.

What the ranges do not include

Our figures cover pumping, removal of wet materials, cleaning and drying. They do not include plumbing repairs, sewer line work, a new water heater, roof repair or rebuilding. They also leave out replacing drywall, plaster, flooring, cabinets and paint after the building is dry.

Your insurer, your plumber and your contractor will each have their own figure for those parts. We give you the photos, readings and scope to hand them.

Why winter and weekends can change the price

A burst pipe at 2 a.m. on a Sunday needs a crew, pumps and equipment right away. After-hours work can cost more than a scheduled visit, and a long cold snap can stretch drying time because cold, damp air holds moisture. We tell you plainly if a figure includes after-hours work.

What changes the price

Wet area
More wet floor and wall means more pump time, more machines and more days. One room and a whole floor are very different jobs.
Type of water
Clean water costs least. Gray water costs more. Sewage and flood water cost the most, because of protective gear, disposal and disinfecting.
What got wet
Carpet and drywall come out and dry quickly. Oak, plaster, brick, block and wet insulation take longer or need removal.
Time and weather
How long the water sat, and how cold or humid the building is, set the number of drying days.
Access and hour
Cellars, tight spaces and roof spaces take more labor. Work at night or on a weekend can cost more than a scheduled visit.

Ways to keep the cost down

  • Call early. Water caught in the first hours needs fewer machines and fewer days than water that sat overnight.
  • Close the valve and carry belongings off wet floors while you wait.
  • Film the damage before anything moves. It keeps the scope clear.
  • Tell us the source and how long it ran so the right gear is on the truck.
  • Ask what can be dried instead of torn out. Keeping dryable plaster or oak floors saves rebuild money.
