How this calculator works
The tool starts with a typical cost per square foot for the water type, then adjusts for flooring, how long the water sat, the kind of building and after-hours work. It applies a minimum, because a crew visit to a Queens address costs the same whether the wet room is a closet or a parlor floor.
Contaminated water costs the most because the crew wears protective gear, removes porous materials and disinfects. Water that sat for more than two days costs more because it soaks into drywall and framing, and more material has to be removed and dried.
The result is a range, not a quote. Plumbing repairs, rebuilding and replacing flooring or drywall are separate. Our pricing page shows ranges for every service.
Questions about this tool
Is this a quote?
No. It is a typical estimate for the New York City area. A real quote needs a look at the water, the materials and the building.
Why is contaminated water so much higher?
Protective gear, containment, disposal and disinfecting add labor and materials, and porous items usually have to be removed.
Does the estimate include the plumber?
No. It covers extraction, removal and drying only.
Will insurance cover it?
That depends on your policy and the cause. Sudden pipe and appliance failures are often covered, and sewer backup and flood usually need added coverage.
